At Brown’s Farm Animal Veterinary Services, it is our goal to offer the most recent and up to date medical and surgical care and laboratory diagnostics to our clients for our patients. Dr. Brown attends continuing education events several times a year in a constant pursuit of improving her practice of veterinary medicine.
Preventive Medicine
Dr. Brown desires for every patient to have the longest life with healthy quality. Regular checkups and wellness exams are critical to your pets’ well-being as they provide a chance to evaluate the overall health of your pet while also giving a baseline for their unique bodies and tendencies. Not only do these exams keep your pet’s health up-to-date, but they also allow opportunity to detect potential problems before they become serious.
Regular wellness exams include educating clients on proper preventive care and Dr. Brown spends a great deal of time with each client ensuring that they understand why and what “shots” their pet truly needs. As well, an overall parasite control plan is put into action for each individual ensuring that each pets preventive needs are met.
Geriatric Patient Care
Twice yearly examinations for our aging pets is recommended to ensure any age related diseases are detected before they affect the pet’s quality of life. Annual bloodwork may be included in that exam to specifically monitor function of internal organs. Also these visits allow Dr. Brown to tailor each special friend’s preventive health care needs to their individual risk factors.
Diagnostic Laboratory
Routine diagnostics are available such as CBC, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Thyroid panels, Heartworm Testing, Fecal Parasite Screening. Most lab tests yield results within 24-48 hours.
Radiology
Dr. Brown is proud to offer DIGITAL X-ray services in the comfort of your own home for those pets that have difficulty traveling. Results of your pet’s X-ray are available instantaneously.
In-Home Euthanasia
Many of us have had to make the hard decision when our pet no longer has quality of life and Dr. Brown understands how hard it can be. She will do everything she can to help you through the process. As many pets have trouble getting around in their old age, it can be quite difficult to bring them into the hospital. You may want extra privacy during this sad time, or may be too upset to drive. Because of this, Brown’s Farm Animal Veterinary Services would be happy to come to you and your pets. For more information on the process, please visit the In Home Euthanasia page.
Ultrasound
Ultrasounding is a quick and painless procedure. It uses sound waves to allow us to see inside the animal without using the harmful radiation produced when we take x-rays. Typically, this can be done without shaving the animal. As every animal is different, some pets may require sedation to help them stay still during the procedure, however most are content for the extra belly rubs they receive. On average, an ultrasound exam can be completed in under 10 minutes. In certain instances, we prefer the pet to be fasted, so please discuss with us if you are scheduling an ultrasound appointment. If your pet is experiencing any urinary issues, please do not let them urinate before the exam.
