It is our goal to offer our patients the very best veterinary care we can. We are proud of our state-of-the-art equipment, which allows us to diagnose and treat your pets quickly and efficiently.
Ultrasounding is a quick and painless procedure. It uses sound waves to allow us to see inside the animal without using the harmful radiation produced when we take x-rays. Typically, this can be done without shaving the animal. As every animal is different, some pets may require sedation to help them stay still during the procedure, however most are content for the extra belly rubs they receive. On average, an ultrasound exam can be completed in under 10 minutes. In certain instances, we prefer the pet to be fasted, so please discuss with us if you are scheduling an ultrasound appointment. If your pet is experiencing any urinary issues, please do not let them urinate before the exam.
Ultrasound is a great and fun diagnostic tool to confirm pregnancy. At this time, we only offer pregnancy check ultrasounds for dogs, cats, and goats. While pregnancy confirmation is possible as early as day 20-22 after breeding, it can also be missed this early. We prefer to ultrasound small animals at 30 days after breeding. Although ultrasound has the inability to accurately count puppies, kittens, or kids, it can confirm if the animal is expecting and most importantly allows us to confirm the viability of the fetus.
We are happy to be able to offer ultrasounds, along with all of our other diagnostic tools such as bloodwork and x-rays, to help quickly diagnose your pet.
